FlingGolf is an alternative way to play a traditional golf course using a FlingStick and a standard golf ball instead of a set of golf clubs. Players use the FlingStick to throw, shape, chip and putt the ball from tee to hole while playing on a normal golf course.

At Flingheadz, we’re helping introduce FlingGolf to more people in Western Australia and Australia. We’ve been getting out on courses ourselves, learning the game, testing different techniques and showing people just how easy it is to get started.

What is FlingGolf?

FlingGolf is played on a normal golf course using a single piece of equipment called a FlingStick.

Instead of striking the ball with a golf club, you place a standard golf ball into the channel of the FlingStick and use a throwing motion to send the ball down the fairway.

The same FlingStick can then be used for shorter approach shots, chipping and putting.

That means you don’t need a full bag of clubs to play.

What is a FlingStick?

A FlingStick is the piece of equipment used to play FlingGolf.

It is designed so the player can carry, throw and release a standard golf ball using a controlled motion.

Different techniques can be used depending on the shot, including longer throws, shorter controlled shots, chips and putts.

How do you play FlingGolf?

The basic idea is very simple.

You start at the tee and use your FlingStick to launch the golf ball toward the hole.

From there, you continue playing the ball from where it finishes, just like traditional golf.

As you get closer to the green, you can use shorter throwing techniques for approach shots and chipping.

Once you reach the green, the FlingStick can also be used to putt.

Your score is based on how many throws or strokes it takes you to complete the hole.

Do you need golf experience?

No.

One of the things we like about FlingGolf is that you don’t need to already be a golfer to give it a go.

People who have played golf before will recognise the course layout, scoring and general flow of the game, but the throwing technique is completely different from swinging a golf club.

For beginners, it can be a fun way to experience a golf course without needing to learn a full set of golf clubs first.

Can FlingGolf be played on a normal golf course?

Yes, FlingGolf is designed to be played on standard golf courses.

However, individual golf courses decide what activities they allow, so it’s always a good idea to check with the course before turning up to play.

Is FlingGolf difficult to learn?

The basic throwing motion can be picked up quite quickly, but like any sport, improving accuracy, distance and touch takes practice.

Long throws are only one part of the game.

Learning how to control shorter shots, approach shots and putting can make a big difference to your score.

That’s also part of what makes FlingGolf fun — you can start playing fairly quickly but still have plenty to improve as you go.
